THE INCHCOLM HOTEL

The Inchcolm hotel and suites in Brisbane is another crazy-cool boutique hotel by Ovolo Group.

On the back of previous work we had completed for Ovolo Laneways hotel in Melbourne, the client requested a mix of original artwork (printed and framed) as well as large scale wall decals, to enhance to hotels atmospheres from floors 1 to 4.

The brief was to design multiple large scale wall decals, for all four levels of the hotel. It was important for the client that these custom wall decals featured colours and collage elements that connected with the pre-existing wallpaper located in the hotel's bar on the ground floor. The outcome of this project created a nostalgic, rock atmosphere from a modern point of view. 

The client also required seven original artworks, each representing an icon in music, including David Bowie, Michael Jackson and Freddy Mercury, to name a few. The brief asked for a combination of hand-drawings, stencil/graffiti effect and collage, using rich colour palette for the backgrounds. To accompany each icon piece, the client also requested six contemporary abstract pieces, combining elements from the icon pieces in a subtle, yet artistic way. The artworks were designed, printed on high quality art paper, framed and installed throughout all upper levels of the hotel.
